What You’ll Do:
The Estimator will successfully develop estimates for all areas of mechanical construction in large commercial buildings (our projects typically range between 50K and 2.5M each). Must be experienced in complete material take-offs, labor estimates, requests for pricing, reviewing project documents and generating estimates. This position reports to the Construction Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare complete take-off and all cost estimates for HVAC, sheet metal duct systems, plumbing and piping systems with Fast Duct/Pipe
- Ability to use estimating software
- Account for labor, material, equipment, subcontractors, and other direct costs within estimate
- Review plans and specifications to determine scope of work
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive pricing
- Prepare conceptual estimates to support budget proposals
- Maintain control of documents, drawing revisions, and change orders
- Organize resources and establish priorities
- Develop and maintain working relationships with subcontractors and client/owner
The ideal candidate is someone who has the following:
- Minimum 5 years previous experience on large commercial construction projects related to mechanical construction
- Comprehensive knowledge or HVAC, VRF, VRV Systems, sheet metal duct systems, plumbing and piping systems
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, mechanical Design Build and job costing
- Ability to deal diplomatically and communicate effectively within our team and customers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle a dynamic, evolving, and fast-paced workload under deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, but not required
- Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check
